  • Bypassing Windows 11 Home requirement for an MS Account

Watched that video today and learnt something new! So, Windows 11 Home requires you to provide an Microsoft account after the OS installation. The setup wizard disables even the "Next" button if you don't have an active internet connection on your computer. But with this little trick, you can bypass the online account bullshit.. (jump to 9:28 to get straight to the interesting part)

Basically, the steps are as follows:
    1. Install Windows 11 Home normally
    2. First boot - the Windows 11 wizard pops up to "help" you setting up your new Windows installation
    3. At some point, it complains about a missing internet connection and you cannot press the Next button.
    4. Hit [SHIFT] + [F10] -> The command prompt pops up.
    5. Enter "taskmgr" into the command prompt and hit the [Return] key. The Task Manager appears
    6. Open the extended details (by clicking the arrow on the bottom) and scroll down, search for "Network Connection Flow".
    7. Kill the process
    8. The wizard jumps to the next page and lets you create a local Windows account.

By the way, this seems to be interesting for Windows 11 Pro in future as well, as Microsoft will require users to have an MSA for the Pro version, too.

And apparently, entering a fake account will result in an offer to create a local account as well. Didn't know that, as I have never tried it before ^^
